We're proud of our U11 boys who played at the Matt Kendall Memorial Football Tournament at Feltonfleet this weekend.
This event holds special meaning for our community – played in memory of Feltonfleet old boy Matt Kendall, who used football to unite people from diverse communities in the Midlands. The tournament honours his legacy and passion for the game. Our Year 6 boys showed outstanding skill, determination, and teamwork against tough competition, securing a well-deserved win in tribute to Matt's memory.
This year was very special, as the Feltonfleet U11 boys' football team emerged victorious - winning the tournament for the very first time!
The team delivered an exceptional performance throughout the tournament, starting with a dominant 4-0 win against Broomswood Prep, followed by a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Milbourne Lodge. In the semi-final, they overcame a strong RGS side with another 1-0 win, securing their place in the final.
In the final against St George’s Weybridge, the boys demonstrated outstanding skill, resilience, and teamwork. After a tightly contested first half ended 1-1, Feltonfleet rallied to score two second-half goals, sealing a memorable 3-1 victory and lifting the cup for the first time in the tournament’s history.
Director of Sport, Andrew Rishton, commented:
"A huge congratulations to the team for their determination and for honouring Matt Kendall’s legacy in such a meaningful way."
